Stephanie Kyung Sun Walters is a Barrymore nominated actor, playwright, and teaching artist in Philadelphia. She’s a member of The Foundry at PlayPenn and the Lead Artist on the Philly Asian Performing Artists’ Playwrights Project. Her play, Esther Choi and the Fish that Drowned, was presented at the PlayPenn Conference and the Philadelphia Women’s Theatre Festival 2019. It will have a world premiere production with Simpatico Theatre Company. Keep Me Posted received a staged reading at the 2018 Philly Asian American Film Festival. Her play, Are You My Father or the dream ballet of north korea, received a workshop and reading with PlayPenn, as well as a residency with Philadelphia Asian Performing Artists/Asian Arts Initiative. This piece was also a finalist for Unicorn Theatre’s 2019-2020 In-Progress New Play Reading Series. She was a semi-finalist for Nashville Repertory Theater's Ingram New Works and received a nomination for the NNPN Smith Prize for Political Theatre. Stephanie is excited to return to InterAct Theatre’s stage for their production of Man of God. Her regional acting credits include Walnut St. Theatre, Delaware Theatre Company, InterAct Theatre Company, Philadelphia Asian Performing Artists and Orbiter 3 (Peaceable Kingdom, Barrymore Nominated Best Supporting Actress in a Play). She has taught with Bucknell University, PlayPenn, Arden Theatre Company, and Theatre Exile. Stephanie is a proud graduate of Bucknell University, London Dramatic Academy, and CAP21.
