Philly Asian Futures

Pearls of Our Dragon is a gentle invitation for collective attunement and emergent interweaving of disparate time, translation, and location, inspired by ancient Chinese tea ceremonies. Through the artistry of traditional and experimental sound, this performative ritual will guide those present towards insightful reflection on their cultural foundations, ignited by melody, memory, and manifestation. May the fragrant traces of our histories awaken the vibrancy of our communal connections.

This dance/movement piece is a multilayered exploration of what it means to come home- to the body, to the space you live in, to community. It's a dream of a future not too far off that could be possible through practices such as cultivating a sense of safety within, taking up space, healing ancestral trauma, connecting to culture, and being, sharing and playing with others.

"Ninuno" is an immersive musical performance where history echoes into the future. Experience a sonic tapestry of Philadelphia's Asian voices, indigenous Philippine instruments, and electronic processing. "Ninuno" translates to "Ancestor" in English.

Heads up, Philly: Lex has seen the futures. With the help of their newly developed time-traveling technology, they must embark on a journey throughout Philly’s many future timelines– but they can’t travel alone. They need your help to explore the multiverse, preserve Asian history, and manifest a future Philly that doesn’t end in disaster.

Ancestors in Training Cooking School is a solo immersive performance designed for an audience of one, unfolding in a surreal, shape-shifting kitchen space. Part spell, part cooking lesson, and part quiet reckoning, this piece asks: What kind of ancestor are you becoming? And how are you training to get there?

In a dreamlike kitchen filled with oversized flowers and uncanny cabinets, it's just you and a kitchen witch—your host, guide, and possible ancestor. Part energetic trickster, part wise guide, this kitchen witch is totally committed to teaching you something—even though they are not always sure what.

Both heartfelt and playful, Ancestors in Training Cooking School is a meditation on care, courage, and transformation.  It’s about how we inherit stories, how we pass things on, and how we start again when we’re not sure what comes next. It’s not about getting it right. It’s about showing up.

This is a performance for uncertain times.
